The First Snow

View from my bedroom window this morning. It looks much prettier now that I'm not anticipating venturing out in it.

I woke up this morning and it was snowing. In those first few moments of conscious grogginess, I would have all but sold my soul to make it Sunday, so I could stay wrapped up in my cozy down comforter. But after hitting the snooze button twice (oops..), I finally got out of bed, put on my gym clothes, and went for a run on the treadmill. It's always amazing the way a good work out can inspire a positive outlook. In the forty-five minutes I spent running, the circumstances of my situation hadn't changed. It was still snowing, it was still Tuesday, and I still had to venture outside to get to work. But as I stepped off the treadmill and took the elevator back to my apartment, I felt a renewed sense of gratefulness. Gratefulness for the nice place I have to call home. Gratefulness that I have a job at all (bonus points: I'm surrounded by sparkly shoes all day). Gratefulness for this nutritious, tasty banana bread I whipped up last night (hello, breakfast!). And gratefulness for my (somewhat) excessive winter wardrobe of faux-fur, leather leggings and warm shoes.

The tastiest banana bread, courtesy of one of my new favorite blogs. Pairs amazingly with a freshly brewed cup of Pumpkin coffee.

I wasn't leaving my apartment this morning in anything but a cozy sweatshirt. I didn't want to feel like a total bum though, so I topped it off with a fur vest.
